Mobile Trailer Repair

Keep the box rolling. We handle lights, brakes, landing gear, doors, and structural fixes wherever the trailer sits.

On-site, done right.

A trailer out of service is freight that does not move. Lighting violations pull units at weigh stations, brake defects generate out-of-service orders, and structural issues can jeopardize both cargo and safety. Interstate Fleet Services provides on-site mobile trailer repair — we come to the trailer whether it is at your terminal, a consignee's dock, or parked roadside — and we handle the mechanical, electrical, and structural systems that keep trailers compliant and operational.

IFS trailer repair covers the full spectrum of field-serviceable trailer systems: LED and incandescent lighting troubleshooting and replacement, brake inspection and adjustment (both S-cam and air disc), air line and glad hand repair, ABS module and sensor diagnostics, landing gear service, door hardware and hinge repair, and DOT Annual Inspection. We also address common structural issues — conspicuity tape replacement, mudflap mounting, and underride guard conditions that would generate a roadside citation.

Our technicians know DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and can assess a trailer's compliance posture in addition to fixing the reported defect. When a driver notes a lighting fault on the pre-trip or a shipper refuses a trailer at the dock, a single call to IFS gets a technician dispatched with the parts and tools to resolve the issue without moving the trailer to a shop.

When to call us

Signs it's time to dial.

  • One or more trailer running lights, brake lights, or marker lights are out and the unit cannot legally operate
  • Brake inspection has revealed out-of-adjustment brakes, worn linings, or a dragging brake that creates a fire or citation risk
  • An air line, hose, or glad hand is leaking and preventing the trailer from building or holding proper system pressure
  • ABS fault lamp is illuminated on the trailer and the carrier needs documentation or sensor repair before dispatch
  • Landing gear is stuck, bent, or will not crank to the proper height for safe dock operation or fifth-wheel coupling
  • Trailer doors — swing, roll-up, or refrigerated — will not seal, latch, or operate correctly, putting cargo at risk
How it works

One call to back on the road.

01

Call & Dispatch

Call 1-888-589-9281 and provide the trailer location, trailer number, and the specific defect or defects that need attention. If the unit is tagged out of service, let us know so we can prioritize accordingly.

02

On-Site Inspection

The IFS technician arrives and conducts a hands-on inspection of the reported defect along with a scan for related or secondary conditions. For brake complaints, we measure lining thickness and check adjustment. For lighting, we trace the circuit from the seven-pin plug to the fixture. For air issues, we pressurize the system and locate every leak point.

03

Repair & Component Replacement

We carry trailer lighting, glad hands, air hose, ABS sensors, brake hardware, and landing gear components on our service trucks. Repairs are performed on the spot — replacing failed components, splicing or rerouting damaged wiring, adjusting brakes to spec, and addressing door hardware issues.

04

DOT Compliance Verification

Before releasing the trailer, we confirm all repaired systems meet FMCSA inspection standards. If a driver requested a full pre-trip inspection alongside the repair, we document our findings. Annual Inspection stickers are applied when the full DOT inspection is performed and the trailer passes.

FAQ

Trailer Repair questions.

Can IFS perform a DOT Annual Inspection on a trailer at our terminal?

Yes. IFS technicians are qualified to perform DOT Annual Inspections on trailers at your location. We inspect all required systems — brakes, lights, tires, coupling devices, frame, and more — and issue the inspection report and sticker on-site.

How long does a typical trailer lighting repair take?

Most straightforward lighting repairs — a failed taillight, a bad marker lamp, or a corroded seven-pin connector — take 30 to 60 minutes on-site. Wiring chases involving damaged harnesses may take longer depending on the extent of the damage.

Will IFS service a trailer that is loaded and parked at a customer's dock?

Yes. We come to wherever the trailer is sitting. We do not require the trailer to be empty or moved to a service facility. Call 1-888-589-9281 and give us the location.

Can IFS handle refrigerated trailer door seals and gaskets in addition to mechanical door hardware?

We service refrigerated trailer door latches, hinges, and cam hardware. Foam seal and gasket replacement is also something we can address in the field when the materials are available. If a reefer door issue is affecting the temperature envelope, let us know and we can coordinate with our transport refrigeration service at the same visit.

What trailer makes and configurations does IFS service?

We service dry vans, flatbeds, step-decks, reefer trailers, tankers, and specialized equipment across all major trailer manufacturers — Wabash, Great Dane, Utility, Hyundai Translead, and others. Call us with your specific equipment and we will confirm the scope before dispatching.
